There's No Free Lunch

You can't cheat or short-cut your way to success.

The days of the wild west are over. The web is full of scammers and people trying to make a quick buck.

99.9% of these people will fail miserably.

A website is a great adjunct to a real business which already has customers. However, if you want to live off the internet alone, be prepared for some hard work. It can pay off, but only in the long run.

As Google says, "Just make a good website".

Any tricks or shortcuts that work today, will likely not work a year from now. As well as a host of other ill-effects, they'll likely get you demoted in Google's search results, or even kicked out completely. Google rules the internet, and they're constantly weeding out the chaff.

You're going to have to base your web existence on providing the world with some useful service, product, or information.

Don't engage in link farming, paying $9.95 for a million visitors, hiding text, submitting your site to a thousand directories, paying people to link to you, creating doorway pages, or anything else dodgy.

In the long run, there are no shortcuts. Just make your site bigger and better.
